Instructor enroute to Russia

Killarney instructor Bobby Enright, 3rd Dan, leaves for Kazan Russia today to take part in the European Olympic Qualification Tournament on 27-29th January. This is the last qualification tournament for those athletes wishing to compete in the Olympic Games in London this year. Bobby will represent Ireland in the -80kg welter weight division on 29th. The Irish TTA family would like to wish him all the very best of luck. Go team Ireland!

Students of the Year 2011

The 2011 Killarney TTA student of the year trophies were awarded to Gearoid Mulvihill (junior grade) and Stewart Marsh (senior grade). These awards are given in recognition of students upholding the five tenents of taekwondo courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit. The successful students have also shown a good record of attendance, impeccable etiquette and a positive attitude towards training and others. Congratulation boys in setting a good example to your fellow students!

Christmas Holidays

Killarney TTA will be taking their annual Christmas holidays from Wednesday 14th December (last class of the year). Chief Instructor Bobby Enright would like to take this opportunity to wish all students and parents a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Classes will resume from Monday 9th January 2012 at the usual times - we look forward to seeing you all for some more hard training in the new year! New students are always welcome, see our 'Irish TTA clubs' page for details of class times.

Three Irish National Titles return to Killarney TTA

This month saw Killarney instructor and two students compete in the Irish National Championships held at Stamullen, Co.Meath. Instructor and 3rd dan black belt Bobby Enright took the gold again in the -80kg welter weight division. To add to the success for the club Killarney students and 2nd poom junior black belts David Murphy and Kevin Brosnan also won their first national titles, David brought home gold at -48kg and Kevin Brosnan with bronze at -59kg. A massive well done everyone from your Irish TTA family, we're all so proud of you!

Killarney TTA's New Black Belts

The last grading of the year sees Grandmaster Loh promote 4 new black belts within the Killarney Club. Stewart Marsh, Eoin O'Riordan, Adam O'Connor and Jessica Edwards finish their years training on a high by being the newest members to join the black belt family. Also completing 2011 on top are Eoin O'Sullivan, Rachel Randles, Kevin Brosnan and David Murphy who were successful in their promotion to 2nd poom (2nd degree junior black belt). Big congrats go out to all eight students from the Irish TTA members for their achievements.

November Grading/ Seminar

As you know this months grading is to be held Saturday 19th November in the Killarney
Sports and Leisure Centre from 10am -12noon approx. Only students selected by their
instructors are to be in attendance (see your instructors for info). Grandmaster Loh
will also be hosting a seminar on that date from 12.30-3.30pm approx for students above
yellow belt. This is an amazing opportunity for students to learn first hand from a
9th Dan Grandmaster, a privilege many students never have the chance to do. Anyone
interested in attending the seminar should apply via their instructors - hope to see
you all there!

29th TTA British Open Championships

The individual championships saw a much smaller Irish contingent make the biannual
journey to The Time Capsule, Glasgow this month. 8 players from Killarney TTA
along with coach Stephanie Watson travelled over to compete against other TTA clubs
from across the UK in the sparring events. Despite the team only comprising of 8
members the Killarney club are delighted to see them all return with a medal for
their efforts. Gold medals went to Eoin Daly, Micheal Devlin, Paul Brosnan and
Marek Dzurko, Silver to Nial Daly and Bronze to Daniel Devlin, Eoin O'Riordan and
Andrew Brosnan. Well done boys for all your hard work from the Irish TTA members. For those who missed out you can have a chance to compete early next year in the
team championships. Watch this space for details!

Change in Competition Date

Please note the 29th TTA British Individual Championships to be held in Glasgow, has been changed from the 6th November to the 23rd October. Anyone interested in attending the competition should apply via their instructors.

4th Irish Sparring Course

The Irish TTA hosted their 4th annual sparring course this month in the Killarney Sports and Leisure centre. Instructors and students of the Irish clubs would like to extend a big thank you to Grandmaster Loh for teaching such fun and informative seminars over the 2 days. Thanks also goes out to students from our sister club in Nottingham for making the journey to Ireland to attend the course. All involved look forward to next years sessions, any students wishing to find out more about this course please enquire via your instructors.

Killarney TTA Summer Holidays

There will be NO CLASSES for Killarney students from Mon 22nd August to Wed 7th September, the club is closing for a short break to allow students to relax before their school year restarts. Training will resume as normal on Monday 12th September at 7pm. If you have any queries please contact your instructor.
